KARACHI:
A peaceful day at Karachi's Sea View beach turned dangerous for a family when their SUV got stuck in the rising tide on Thursday.
Five people, including Salim, his wife and their minor daughter, found themselves in a harrowing situation as their vehicle sank deeper into the sandy beach with each passing moment. Despite their efforts, they were unable to free the jeep from the penetrating seawater. However, timely rescue prevented the tragedy.
Fearing the worst, Salim dialed the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) helpline. The CBC Emergency Department quickly responded to the emergency call and ensured the safety of the stranded family.
Syed Muzammil Hussain, a member of the CBC rescue team, reported that the family was successfully evacuated from the vehicle and taken to a safe location on the beach.
Undeterred by the challenging conditions, the rescue team worked for approximately two hours to free the SUV from its water trap. With the help of a tractor, they finally succeeded.
Sub-inspector Sana Ullah, in-charge of the Sea View check post, revealed that Salim, a resident of Nazimabad, had ventured to the sandy beach for an adventure trip with his family.
“A lifeguard tried to stop Salim and explained that driving on the sandy beach was not allowed, but he ignored the advice. Finally, his jeep got stuck in the sand,” he added.
CBC officials took this opportunity to appeal to the public to use the dedicated parking lot, built at considerable expense, rather than risk their vehicles on the beach.
They emphasized that the availability of sufficient parking space serves as a safer alternative to ensure that beachgoers can enjoy their day without endangering themselves or others.
