'Jawan' beats 'Kisi Ka Bhai' in terms of advance booking sales

 

Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan is slated to release on September 7 and advance booking for its grand opening started yesterday. According to a report in Hindustan Times, the film has so far sold tickets worth INR 4 crore on the first day alone.

The high-octane action-thriller was already predicted to bring huge crowds to the theaters and that prediction proved to be spot on with each passing hour of the advance booking. Advance ticket booking for the film began at 10:00 AM on Friday and by 3:00 PM, the collection quickly crossed the 1 million mark, totaling INR 4 million (₹4 million). Jawan's pre-booked ticket sales continued to grow to break the record of INR 3.39 crore (₹3.39 crore) set earlier this year by the Salman Khan starrer Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.

The Tamil version of the film simultaneously sold ₹15–20 lakh (₹15–20 lakh) tickets, possibly due to the strong appeal of Tamil superstars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, which drove Tamil-speaking crowds to flock to the theatres. By 9:00 PM on the first day of advance booking, Jawan had sold 1,24,000 tickets across India's three largest multiplex chains.

Earlier this year, King Khan's film Pathaan earned a whopping INR 32 million (₹32 million) in total advance ticket sales. With Jawan still having four days left in its pre-booking phase, ticket sales are likely to continue to climb until it finally peaks. But the question remains whether this peak will be higher than the one measured by Pathaan.
