Neville tips Man Utd to leapfrog Arsenal next season; Carragher reveals his expectations for Liverpool

Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have made some predictions for next season and both expect Man City to win the league again.

With just two weeks to go until the start of the 2023/24 season, the predictions for the new campaign will soon start pouring in.

Last term, Man City finished five points ahead of Arsenal and won the Premier League title en route to completing the treble.

Pep Guardiola's side have now won the league in five of the last six seasons. Both Carragher and Neville expect to lift the title again in 2023/24.

"No, I don't think so," Carragher told FourFourTwo when asked if anyone can top Man City this season.

Neville added: "Sitting here today, it's hard to say yes."

As for his beloved Man Utd, Neville can't see his former club winning the league next season but thinks they "have a chance of taking" second place from Arsenal.

"It all depends on the budget," Neville said when asked what were Man Utd's chances of challenging for the Premier League title.

“Under the owners, the club had, I think they'll probably still finish in the top four, but I don't think they'll improve on that.

“If they were to get new owners and have £250m or £300m to spend, they have a chance to come second. I think they have a chance to get that place from Arsenal - it's up for grabs - but they would have to spend well."

Liverpool have overhauled their midfield this summer and the signing of Romeo Lavia would take their spending in excess of £100m.

Carragher believes Liverpool "can be at the forefront of the chase for Man City because Jurgen Klopp will be "so energetic and determined".

“I think Liverpool will be in the top four. They soon signed Alexis Mac Allister. They were awful last season and they were still in contention for the top four with two or three games left, which I couldn't believe given how poor they were in the middle of the season,” said Carragher.

“It's about whether they can get back to the level they were at: it's really hard to have the season they've just had and then add 25 or 30 points to get to where they were before. I'm not sure they can make the jump.

“But I definitely think they can be at the top of the team and chase Manchester City. I actually think Manchester United will improve but I also think Jurgen Klopp will be so energetic and determined to put things right after how bad last season was. I have a feeling he would be happy if this season started already in June.
